(Integrating IT into your Organization’s plans)

All organisations ideally have a Vision as well as a Mission statement that helps to formulate their strategic plans that will help them to achieve their organisational objectives. In today’s fast changing scenario an organisation needs to come up with an It vision that will help facilitate the growth and expansion plans of the organisation.

This is even more necessary when the organisation is a small one because small businesses are the ones that have the maximum flexibility and will find it easier to integrate It into their core functions.

Organisations may question the focus on Information Technology as usually It functions as an enabler rather than an indispensable tool. Such organisations are in greater need of an IT vision.

Till date the role of Information Technology is that of a support system with most organizations outsourcing their IT need and concentrating on their core competencies that ultimately generate business.

An Organisation’s requirements in the order of their relative importance can be divided into:

• Content management requirements
• Workflow requirements
• Infrastructural requirements.

Based on these requirements the various IT functions that can fulfill these requirements can be either implemented phase wise or integrated into the core competency of the business.

An organization may also choose to outsource these requirements to consultancy firms or BPOs.
